LA: Disgraced sheriff’s deputy sentenced to 100 years in high-profile sex crimes case

LIVINGSTON PARISH – A former Livingston Parish sheriff’s deputy was sentenced to 100 years in prison for a multitude of sex crimes — several involving children — on Tuesday, years after WBRZ broke the story of his being arrested in a case that reportedly has numerous juvenile victims.

Dennis Perkins, first arrested in 2019 along with his wife Cynthia, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of second-degree rape, two counts of sexual battery of a child, one count of video voyeurism, two counts of production of child porn of children under the age of 13, and one count of the mingling of harmful substances. The couple initially faced more than 150 combined charges.

The plea agreement means prosecutors and the defendant will forgo the trial, guaranteeing that Perkins’ young victims will not have to testify about what they went through.

“Not just for the victims but for the jurors who had to watch it, it would have been very disturbing,” prosecutors said outside the court after Perkins’ sentencing. “That’s why we’re so happy that we were able to achieve what we did today without having to go through that.”

What a way to start the new year🥳
100 years in prison

Well I will say that this is pretty horrific, what’s interesting is he gets over 100 years and of course his wife who’s an accomplice, only got 41 years. Even what she did by herself, as a school teacher, feeding her students bodily fluids of her husband, deserves a lot more time. But I can tell by the story that their main goal was the police officer and not his teacher wife. Now on to the registry, how is the registry going to protect the public with this guy? When he’ll be spending over 100 years in prison and of course we’ll die in there as a registrant. I like the statement that was made and this is it, “””No one has to worry about Dennis Perkins hurting anyone ever again,”””” so my question is, if no one has to worry about him anymore, then what is the registry for?

What! no victim impact statement in front of the news cameras.

Holy bad behavior, Batman! 100 years of incarceration was a plea agreement?? What alternative were they facing – immediate drawing & quartering?? 😲 😳

It was a good thing that the Registry was in place to protect these children from this predatory cop and schoolteacher from sexual assault…oh wait, it didn’t.
